I am just back in the UK from a fantastic 6 weeks of training in Cape Town. The training went very well and I feel I have made some good improvements in both fitness and strength. Graeme and I competed together in two of the
Discovery Mens Health surfski series races. We won both of them, with the second race proving far more competitive than the first. I really enjoy racing on the sea and it is great to be able to compete at this time of year.
A big thank you to Graeme and Yolandi for having me to stay at their home for such a long time. Also thanks to Graeme, Dale, Glen and the other athletes I got to train with and Robbie their coach for letting them train with me! Many other people kindly made my trip really enjoyable and worthwhile. Have added a few more pictures
here.
Last night I went to the Nottingham City Council annual sports awards where I was honoured to win the 2007 Amateur Sportsperson of the year award. This is the second time I have won this, last time being 2004. It was a nice suprise and another trophy to add to the cabinet!
On Friday I go to Norway for a few days to stay with Jacob from the Norwegian Olympic kayak team. I'm really looking forward to doing some cross country skiing while there and seeing Norway for the first time. After that I join back in with the rest of the squad and go to Seville to train for 3 weeks.
