November 2007 I had a great new experience today competing in the British Indoor Rowing Championships. This was an excellent competition organised by Concept 2 involving a 2000m race on a rowing ergometer. I managed to win the heavyweight mens age 30-34 category in a time of 6'03.5'. This was the first time I had done a 2km effort on a rowing machine so I was really pleased with the result, although it was quite a shock to the system! It was a great atmosphere and the organisation was brilliant, i'd certainly like to take part again and break the 6 minute mark. I still have a way to go to be able to compete with the big guns in the open category where it was won in 5'42'. Full results are available here. 18th November 2007 |
