June 2007
Well, this season is certainly flying by. Three World Cup regattas already raced with some good results for me. Since the last World Cup we have been on a UK based training camp in Bisham Abbey, on the Thames near Marlow. We have returned to a hard block of training and it is all going well. On 26th June we leave to go to Pontevedra in the North Eastern part of Spain for the European Championships, where I will be contesting to retain my European Champion title. I will be racing both the K1 1000m and 500m this time. There is a website for the championships here.

Just back from the 600 mile drive home from Gerardmer and the third World Cup in the series. The lake and surroundings were stunning, but the weather was pretty grim most of the time with wind and rain. Still, the quality of the competition was very high with probably only the Hungarian missing from the top K1 paddlers. Unfortunately I hurt my neck in training the day before the race and so didn't feel like I was firing on all cylinders for the 1000's on Friday, finishing a disappointing 5th in the final. The following day I felt stronger and raced probably my best 500m races so far in the heat, semi and final to finish 3rd. It was some consolation for the result in the 1000. I've added a couple more photos.
